We are currently looking for a Claims Subrogation Specialist which will be based in O’Fallon, MO.
The Impact You Will Have The Claims Subrogation Specialist will primarily:
  • Handle complex subrogation claims for multiple lines of business within authority limits.
  • Maximize recoveries through proactive investigations, thorough analysis of all available opportunities for recovery, and closely manage expenses.
  • Review and manage subrogation intervention requests received from external recovery partners.
  • Provide quality service to all internal and external customers.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
  • Claims Processing and Administration
    • Document and maintain accurate claims records, within appropriate AGC&S Claims systems.
    • Proactively engage with recovery partners to drive positive financial results, including auditing and management of vendor reports.
    • Secure supporting documentation to perfect our subrogation case.
  • Investigation and Reserving of Claims
    • Investigate and evaluate high exposure domestic and international subrogation claims involving complex legal issues under general direction and within department policies, procedures and authority.
    • Evaluate liability, jurisdiction and all relevant considerations to develop a strategy in support of a viable subrogation case.
    • Select and direct independent external service providers (e.g. subrogation counsel, experts, etc)
  • Settlement
    • Proactively and aggressively negotiate appropriate settlements on high exposure, complex claims ensuring cost effective, service orientated solutions, without the use of counsel whenever possible.
    • Consider various options for subrogation resolution, considering cost/benefit, and develop a strategy to maximize the gross and net.
    • Manage and direct counsel when their retention is required.
  • Market Management & Relationship Management
    • Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary.
    • Proactively liaise with MMC on market management initiatives; positively represent AGCS externally to the market; proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Claims handling process, e.g. Underwriting, MMC, ARC, Operations; and develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. third party adjusters).
  • Relationship Management
    • Positively represent AGCS externally to the market
    • Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Claims subrogation process (e.g. Underwriting, MMC, ARC, Operations)
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. experts, attorneys, mediators, etc)
    • Effectively report and present complex and contentious loss and claims information internally and externally
What You’ll Bring To The Role
  • Knowledge of Marine subrogation claims concepts and terminology that exist across various LOBs.
  • Claim Handling: Solid knowledge of claim handling process from notification to settlement and recovery.
  • Understanding of financial concepts and application of jurisdictional knowledge.
  • Understanding of statutory provisions, notice of claim requirements for various LOB's.
  • General understanding of contracts and their applicability.
  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years of Specialized understanding of LoB products and portfolio with technical specialist knowledge. Management of systems (e.g. Genius)
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of specialized understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of recognized relationship building with brokers at peer group level and well established within local market.
  • Minimum of 5 -7 years of good understanding of legal and regulatory framework
  • Products and Coverages: understanding in relevant products, wordings, terms and conditions and coverages.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in working in global complex, matrix organization leading a team of professionals.
  • Communication skills: Clearly and effectively express ideas and messages via speech or writing.
  • Negotiation and conflict management: Ability to negotiate best position for Allianz Commercial, and client, often in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various parties.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions.
The annualized base pay range for this role is $92,591 - $158,727. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
