Allied Community Services, Inc. is Hiring a $750 Sign-On Bonus: Behavior Specialist (Enfield, Connecticut; Pearson Way) Near Enfield, CT

Function of this position:
Creates and oversees behavioral support plans for referred individuals in Allied’s Day and Residential programs. Provides monitoring and written and oral reports on individual plan progress. Instructs staff in generalized and specific behavioral interventions.
Reportability:
This position reports to Allied's Executive Director.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Essential Functions/Specific Physical Tasks:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Work environment:May work indoors or outdoors, in varying temperatures, for up to an entire eight-hour shift. May work in noisy areas with unusual lighting. Office equipment used on a regular basis: computer equipment, multiline telephones system, cellular phones, copier and fax machines. 
  • General physical mobility:

    Standing for up to an eight-hour day, with opportunities for breaks as needed.

    Sitting, sporadic opportunities throughout an eight-hour shift; sit to stand up to 50 times per day. Walking within various environments, for up to eight hours per shift with opportunities for breaks as needed.

    Bending, stooping, twisting of the trunk – minimal.

    Reaching, pushing, pulling – up to 30 lbs. five times a day.
    Typing or keyboarding – up to eight hours per day with opportunities to stretch as needed.

Weight handling requirements:Lifting or carrying less than 30 pounds, up to five times per day.Personal requirements: The ability to deal with unusual behaviors without immediately considering it a crisis situation; utilizing good organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal), ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding atmosphere; a high degree of efficiency and the ability to receive and relay detailed information is also required.Response to crises:High exposure; work in high stress environment and/or will encounter emergency situations.Duties of this position:
  1. Develops behavior treatment plans indicating intervention type, frequency, intensity, and duration in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
  2. Observe individuals in various settings to detect indications of abnormal behaviors.
  3. Analyze information through case review and interview to assess individual issues and determine advisability of treatment options.
  4. Respond to individual reactions and follow up to evaluate plan/intervention effectiveness. Modify plan as needed.
  5. Refers to and works closely with other department staff to transition assigned clientele into more integrated settings as applicable.
  6. Provide required reports to the interdisciplinary team.
  7. Make referral recommendations to the interdisciplinary team for utilization of other specialists, institutions or support services.
  8. Responsible for the timely completion of written reports that conform to ICF regulations, and DDS contract requirements.
  9. Responsible for reading and becoming familiar with staff Personnel Handbook and other related Agency Policies and Procedures.
  10. Attend participant meetings according to client needs, DDS, and ICF standards and regulations.
  11. Practice self-development by continually improving knowledge and implementing clinically sound management and program techniques.
  12. Demonstrate and operate at all times under Allied’s core values: Excellence, Respect, Innovation, Diversity, Collaboration, Accountability and Integrity.
  13. Protects the property of Allied Community Programs, Inc. through the implementation and utilization of internal controls procedures.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty/specific physical task satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
  1. Board Certified Behavior Analyst preferred. A master’s degree in behavioral Analysis and/or a combination of college education and experience in intellectual disabilities is required.
  2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  3. Develop and instruct staff in behavioral intervention.
  4. Ability to organize and prioritize projects.
  5. Facilitate problem-solving through teamwork.
  6. Ability to work productively interdepartmentally.
  7. Ability to write reports, draw graphs, compute primary statistical data, and perform general computer tasks.
  8. Ability to plan (both long- and short-term projects).
  9. Ability to deal with a wide variety of people as the Agency’s representative.
  10. Possesses practical oral and written communication skills.
  11. Commitment to helping persons with disabilities lead more independent lives.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt.
 
Salary for this position is $80,000-$90,000 per year.
