GENERAL SUMMARY :
Reporting to the Training Manager, the Direct Care Worker will assist in the care of consumers in the home by carrying out certain personal care and light housekeeping services in carefully selected situations.
Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the consumers served.

EDUCATION :
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Successful completion of one of the following :

WORK EXPERIENCE :
Minimum of one (1) year of homecare experience, including the ability to demonstrate competency in skill areas, may be substituted for training certificate as listed above.
SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS :
Must maintain the standards of care and implement the policies and procedures of In-Home Services and Allied Services.
Ability to read, write and carry out directions required.
Must demonstrate maturity, ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job and a sympathetic attitude toward the care of disabled and / or elderly consumers.
Must practice good personal hygiene.
Valid PA driver’s license and available transportation during all working hours required.
Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff and consumers.
Must maintain confidentiality of consumer information.
Must obtain and maintain adult CPR and First Aide certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Moderate Work : duties require exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally (approx 10-33% of shift), and / or up to 10lbs.
of force frequently (approx 33-66% of the time), and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects (i.
e., occasional patient transfers).
Position involves bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting (occasionally in strained positions).
Ability to transport self throughout facility is required.
Must be able to travel to consumer’s homes as required.
ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS :
Occasional exposure to body fluids.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Works in a well-lit office environment and in varying conditions in consumer homes (where conditions may be less than desirable).
