Title: Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Location: Charlotte, NC – In Office

Pay: $40,000-50,000/year (Based on experience)

Allied Staff Augmentation Partners is actively seeking a proficient and resourceful Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll be responsible for both administrative and strategic functions associated with our clients' payroll and benefits programs.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Payroll:

  • Review timecards for accuracy and promptly resolve any discrepancies by liaising with managers.
  • Implement weekly payroll processing using our HRIS (AVIONTE) to ensure timely and accurate handling of payroll transactions, covering salaries, commissions, bonuses, benefits, and deductions.
  • Ensure precise and timely updates to payroll, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates and benefits.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of all payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and best practices.
  • Perform weekly account reconciliations accurately.
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries and complaints related to timesheets and payroll matters.
  • Provide employee verifications to external sources, such as loan verification.
  • Manage paid time off (PTO) for all employees and address related queries.

Benefits:

  • Administer various employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, accident, disability, life insurance, and 401(k).
  • Conduct benefits orientations and guide employees through the benefits enrollment portal.
  • Ensure accurate entry of benefits changes into the payroll system and verify deductions accordingly.
  • Verify monthly premium statements for all insurance policies.
  • Reconcile monthly benefits invoices to ensure billing accuracy and verify employee benefit elections and deductions.
  • Resolve administrative problems with carrier representatives and address any employee benefits-related issues.
  • Assist employees with benefits and payroll inquiries and manage employee enrollments and life changes.
  • Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork, including medical, personal, disability, and FMLA.
  • Track and manage missing benefits deductions during employee leaves of absence and coordinate workers' compensation claims with third-party administrators.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of payroll processing experience.
  • Profound knowledge of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of employee benefits and relevant laws.
  • Ability to effectively interact with staff at all organizational levels, as well as external professionals and service providers.
  • Capacity to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
