Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.
The Opportunity This role will require a candidate that can bring 2 distinct set of skillsets. On one hand, portfolio management and project planning skills and on another responsible for delivering technology solutions that align the needs of business and corporate functions. They will develop an understanding of the business landscape that the technology solutions deliver. They will also have a strong understanding of the technical aspects that help bring the solution together including the ability to work with various technology and business partners to define and drive strategic requirements and solutions across development, infrastructure, architecture and testing teams. They are ultimately accountable for project deliverables, resource allocations, assignments, budgets, and the overall quality of the final product, on time and budget. They will serve as a Lead under the guidance of the Lead Sr. Technology Director. Part of the responsibility will be to manage key technology resources in any combination of employees, contractors, and suppliers.
The Work Itself
  • Execute the portfolio and project planning process across Auto Servicing organization in accordance with Ally’s project delivery process.
  • Work closely with business and technology partners to effectively plan and manage highly integrated projects within the auto servicing space.
  • Lead the execution of Ally’s Synthetic Data strategy across all the technology areas enterprise wide.
  • Leverage the available AI accelerators to fast-track delivery and devise AI focused solutions.
  • Participate in RFP process to select the right supplier and COTS solution.
  • Can provide tailored and crips communications to various levels of stakeholders including senior leadership and other development teams.
  • Can liaise between product, architecture, and development team members and comfortable in holding both technical and business discussions.
  • Collaborates closely with the business to analyze the current state of processes and systems, then use that information, along with business strategies to formulate a future state process and system design.
  • Directly accountable for the business analysis, requirements elicitation and process design.
  • Provides direction and oversight to project teams to design, develop, deploy and sustain solutions that meet applicable business requirements.
  • Responsible for a set of projects and/or releases including deliverables, cost, schedule, quality and status reporting.
  • Allocates and directs resources to accomplish tasks and maintains control of schedule(s) and deliverable quality.
  • Responsible for resolving issues and mitigating risks, escalating issues/ risks when appropriate.
  • Manages teams, which may include Ally employee and/or vendor team members, informs the team of its progress; leads/develops Ally staff members.
  • Acts as team's interface to IT and Business Partners; develops/maintains strong relationship with vendor teams and vendor management.
  • Can work directly with product owners to ensure stories contain the right balance of technical direction, best practices, and level of detail.
  • Can drive continuous improvement through coaching, pair programming, code review processes, and round table discussions.
  • Instills strong focus and best practices for creation and maintenance of high-quality deliverables.
  • Can review resumes, conducts phone screens, facilitates on site interviews, and assists with the integration of new hires into their tech stack and team.
Skills The Skills You Bring
  • 7-10 years of experience managing projects in the technology sector preferred. Previous Director level experience highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other relevant field of study preferred.
  • Strong familiar with Synthetic Data, Gen AI, Java, Spring Boot, Apigee, MS SQL, REST, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Kinesis, AWS S3, AWS SQS, AWS Lambda, Gitlab, and DevOps including Jenkins, Terraform, Helm
  • Ability to influence change across a matrix organization and collaborate with business and technology teams to deliver solutions.
  • Intentional communicator using the right tools and applying the top-quality content to align with the target audience.
  • Easy to do business with while maintaining their logical stance of what they believe to be the right solution.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage several concurrent projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to manage outsourced development.
  • Customer Focus - proven track record of customer satisfaction and delivery success and ability to establish and maintain appropriate relationships with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Consulting/Problem Solving - ability to work in an advisory capacity to identify key technical and business problems, develop and evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations.
  • Systems Delivery - extensive experience in all aspects of the software development life cycle.
  • Technical Project Management - expertise in project management including project planning and estimating, project budgeting, staffing, change control, and status reporting.
  • Experience with Project Management methodologies and tools, resource planning, and forecasting.
  • Ability to supervise staff and make personnel decisions.
  • Ability to articulate the company's business requirements and objectives and translate those into software development solutions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate software development issues and recommendations to senior level management within and outside of IT.
  • Knowledge of all phases of software development.
