Job Description:

The operations lead will navigate the intricate challenges within a shared platform environment. The operations lead s core duty is to oversee the platform's operational facets, guaranteeing its reliability, performance, stability, and observability. By tackling issues like resource management, data integrity, performance enhancement, governance, and security, you'll be pivotal in sustaining the seamless operation of the shared platform. This role s leadership and expertise will foster collaboration, establish robust monitoring practices, facilitate transparent communication, and set up effective governance protocols to mitigate risks and ensure the shared platform's triumph. Collaborating with diverse teams, including data engineers, developers, database administrators, and business stakeholders, the operations lead will orchestrate the day-to-day operations and governance of the shared platform. As a vital link between technical and business realms, the operations lead will drive clear communication, enforce governance frameworks, and champion continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain operational processes, procedures, and standards for the shared platform environment, ensuring adherence to best practices in database design, performance tuning, data governance, and security.
  • Coordinate and facilitate cross-functional collaboration among teams involved in the shared platform, including data engineers, developers, database administrators, and business stakeholders.
  • Establish and enforce governance processes for change management, dependency management, versioning, and concurrent data access within the shared platform.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the shared platform's reliability, performance, stability, and observability.
  • Identify and address operational risks, bottlenecks, and issues, working closely with technical teams to implement solutions and mitigate potential impacts.
  • Manage resource allocation and capacity planning for the shared platform, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and addressing resource contention challenges.
  • Collaborate with data governance teams to ensure compliance with data governance policies, data integrity, and security standards.
  • Facilitate regular operational review meetings with stakeholders, communicating updates, addressing concerns, and gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including operational procedures, run books, and knowledge base articles.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, trends, and emerging technologies related to shared platform operations, data management, and observability.
  • Lead the operational activities of the shared platform environment, including databases, ETL processes, and reporting tools, to ensure reliability, performance, stability, and observability.
  • Proactively identify and address challenges such as resource contention, data integrity issues, and performance bottlenecks to maintain optimal platform performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance with regulations.
  • Manage dependencies between various applications and tools utilizing the shared platform, ensuring seamless integration and interoperability.
  • Implement robust monitoring practices to track the health and performance of the shared platform, enabling timely identification and resolution of issues.
  • Develop and implement change management processes to handle concurrent data access and changes effectively, minimizing disruptions to the shared platform environment.
  • Foster collaboration among cross-functional teams involved in the shared platform initiatives, facilitating clear communication and alignment of objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15 years of experience in operations management, preferably in a shared platform or data management environment.
  • Strong understanding of database design, performance tuning, data governance, and security best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools like New Relic, Splunk, Graphana, and Dynatrace.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional and matrix environment, coordinating with multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and change management processes.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and containerization technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
