About The RoleThis position is responsible for monitoring and reviewing all quality control related activities and data generated in the ALS Irvine location. The position is responsible for accreditations, proficiency testing, and all local data quality related management systems and plays a key role in ensuring that ALS Irvine continues to provide superior quality analytical services to its clients. The Quality Manager will be responsible for maintaining and updating the quality systems .
Responsibilities About you:
  • Work with Lab director to provide support and guidance to ensure all accreditations and certifications are maintained.
  • Prepare reports on comparative laboratory quality performance and present to management.
  • Performs internal laboratory audits, customer audits and is responsible for corrective actions.
  • Maintains quality documentation; ensure that good, easily retrievable records are maintained of the training, assessment and audits.
  • Schedules and assists laboratory with external audits and corrective action.
  • Oversee all ancillary equipment certification and calibration processes and recording
  • Ensure that all aspects associated with the operation run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Preparation and approval of quality plans and procedures.
  • Identify remedial actions and issue corrective action requests.
  • Develop and maintain of approved vendors list.
  • Other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Science preferably in Chemistry or any other physical science;
  • Five years experience in environmental laboratory;
  • Two years experience in quality system management;
  • Experience with Quality System standards, including NELAC, ISO17025, U.S. Department of Defense Quality System Manual;
  • Proficiency in MSOffice applications, including MSWord, MSExcel, and MSAccess;
  • Must be able to travel when required.
  • Knowledge and experience with basic statistics.
  • Excellent clerical accuracy.
  • Good command of the English language, both verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, an independent thinker and able to work as part of a team.
Physical Demands
  • Able to sit for 80% of an 8 hour day.
  • Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers and managers;
  • Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware;
  • Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment;
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone;
