Alt Spec UAS Services, LLC is seeking 14 CFR Part 107 certified Remote Pilots with the skill to fly unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), preferably with experience flying around electrical transmission and distribution structures and photographing their assets. The objective is to provide frame worthy photos so that inspectors can identify issues that could damage property or injure the public.

Candidates will be expected to analyze their scope to identify operational requirements, potential hazards or risks, and the necessity for further coordination with landowners and authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). They will be expected to take meticulous care of their equipment and keep accurate logs of all maintenance, repair and flight time. Pilots will work in small teams with minimal direct supervision so they will be expected to maintain situational awareness and make decisions that prioritize safety for themselves and the public. Knowledge of and compliance with internal manuals and standard operating procedures as well as local, state and federal laws and regulations is a must.

Required Certifications:

• FAA Part 107 Certificate and pilot currency document, if applicable
• Valid Driver's License

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 50 documented hours of experience hand flying rotary UAS
• Understanding of photography and how to produce high quality photos using UAS
• Familiarity with DJI hardware and software
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, hike through uneven terrain/vegetation and stand for long periods in adverse weather conditions
• Prioritization of safety in all circumstances
• Sound and efficient critical thinking and problem solving
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely under pressure
• Willingness to be flexible as circumstances change

Desired Experience:

• Flying UAS in the direct vicinity of electrical utility assets
• Familiarity with FAA’s waiver and airspace authorization process
• Knack for process improvement
• Planning and conducting safety tailboard meetings
• Data Quality Control
• First aid/CPR certification
• Safe/Defensive driving training

Potential Pay Range: $25 - $45 per hour, plus benefits and travel stipend

This position will be based in Southern California but may require travel up to 100% of the time to other parts of the country. Candidates must be willing and able to pass a background check and drug screening. Candidates will have to demonstrate flying skill prior to receiving an offer.
