Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join our team of experts, assisting with the development of state-of-the-art data platforms for the intelligence community. This role involves monitoring database systems, performing routine health checks, deploying security patches, and updating databases and documentation. The position also includes managing database cloud environments, developing and optimizing SQL queries, and ensuring database integrity and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor database systems and perform routine health checks.
• Deploy security patches and bug fixes in test and operational environments.
• Update databases with new data.
• Update operational and security documentation, including troubleshooting guides and SOPs.
• Design, implement, and maintain multiple security enclave data environments in the AWS cloud.
• Manage database cloud environments with minimal downtime while ensuring data integrity.
• Deploy and manage databases on cloud platforms like Amazon RDS or Aurora.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts.
• Design and implement scalable database structures.
• Create and maintain data models to ensure database integrity and performance.
• Optimize database performance through index creation and query tuning.
• Align database operations with CI/CD pipelines by collaborating with software maintenance teams.
• Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patches for new features and security.
• Analyze and forecast database capacity for scalability and optimal performance.
• Leverage cloud backup solutions for data resilience and easy restoration in case of failures.
• Use infrastructure as code tools (e.g., AWS CloudFormation) for consistent and automated database management.
• Create and maintain documentation for database design, configurations, and processes.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• Clearance: TS/SCI with CI Poly.
• Certifications: Must have DoD 8570 compliance certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security , CompTIA Cloud ).
• Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree with 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Master s degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
• Minimum 4-10 years of information technology experience, with at least 4-6 years of practical Database Administration experience.
• Technical Proficiency:
• Proficiency in database management systems such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
• Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure database environments in the AWS cloud.
• Skilled in deploying and managing databases on cloud platforms.
• Expertise in developing and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts.
• Ability to design scalable database structures and create data models.
• Experience in optimizing database performance and aligning operations with CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in planning and executing database upgrades, migrations, and patches.
• Skilled in using cloud backup solutions and infrastructure as code tools (e.g., AWS CloudFormation).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience implementing and optimizing data warehousing solutions on cloud

platforms like Amazon Redshift.

• Integrating databases with containerization platforms (e.g., Docker) and using orchestration tools like Kubernetes for efficient resource utilization.
• Prior experience with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and supporting NGA mission partners.
