General Responsibilities:

• Perform physical examinations and assessments appropriate for patients age, establishing patients medical history and background.
• Diagnose illnesses and/or conditions and establish acceptable plans of management under supervision and in consultation with supervising physicians.
• Perform routine medical procedures and observations, to include medical examination; evaluate the results of tests and examinations.
• Provide counseling and patient education for preventive care, medications, and basic nutrition.
• Recognition of communicable illnesses and maintaining a healthy emotional environment
• Obtain, compile and record accurate patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examinations in patients electronic medical record. Update record as necessary.
• Administer or order diagnostic tests such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.
• Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval. Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and infection management.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of technicians, medical assistants, and other nurses.
• Provide responsible medical care within the scope of practice of nurse practitioner.
• Provide emergency care as needed (CPR, MindSet, etc.), according to the AltaPointe Policy & Procedures.
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
• Adhere to professional code of ethics and to all 5 Star Customer Service guidelines when dealing with co-workers and patients.

Supervision and Consultation:

• Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as needed
• Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement
• Actively works to enhance clinical skills

Clinical Record Keeping:

• Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy
• Documentation shows that forms, notes, logs, and other applicable patient information is completed promptly, accurately and updated when appropriate

Licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) in the State of Alabama. Board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. 2 years relevant work experience. Active DEA controlled substances registration. Must maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals.

Knowledge in topics, outlined below, to be attained within (6) six months of employment:

• General knowledge of psychiatric disorders
• Knowledge of crisis intervention
• Knowledge of utilizing electronic health record
• Knowledge of cultural diversity
• Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care Principles
• Use of standard office equipment including computers, photocopy and facsimile machines.
