Basic Job Functions:

Altenloh, Brinck & Co. US, Inc. manufactures and distributes engineered fasteners under the SPAX® brand for the construction market, TRUFAST® for the commercial roofing industry and TRUFASTWalls® for exterior building envelopes and facades. The Packaging Manager is responsible for overseeing the packing process by managing staff on the production floor and coordinating resources. Accomplishes results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Essential Responsibilities:

Packaging Department Operations

• Meet or exceed department production KPI?s
• Schedule daily production flow. Issue work orders for daily dispatch to packaging operations. Coordinate labor needs for daily/weekly/monthly requirements.
• Manage Outside Packaging services for final goods assembly by working with outside vendors to pack all products not capable of being completed internally.
• Maintain employee work records (time & attendance and ERP transactions)

• Maintain communication within the department through weekly departmental meetings

Supplies/Process Development

• Develop packaging ideas to meet customer needs by working with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing and the customer to develop packaging to meet customer needs.
• Develop and continually improve process for packaging. Recommend and manage labor and equipment for packing to optimize staffing resources, this may include developing /installing automation to optimize the process.
• Develop and maintain run rates for packaging needs and work with Engineering and Admin to establish new part pack rates as well as work to improve rates on existing products

Training

• Maintain associate training - train all associates on concepts, ISO standards and operations within the organization
• Increase job knowledge of concepts through continual education. Attend appropriate outside training opportunities or trade shows to be knowledgeable on state-of-the-art packaging capabilities

General Supervision

• Manage shift supervisors and other direct reports. Maintain performance levels and documentation of periodic reviews?coaching sessions, attendance issues
• Provide intra-departmental support for production requirements and improvement. Utilize a team-based approach to managing within and between departments to reach goals and KPIs.
