The Outpatient Therapist Intern completes education in the area of MC3 values, agency policies, and procedures, and begins to understand county and insurance expectations. When starting to work with clients, the intern will conduct client assessments, devise individualized treatment plans, and implement various therapies to enhance the functionality and quality of life of APC's clients and staff.

Requirements

Must have a valid Wisconsin driver's license, a safe, working vehicle, and auto insurance at required limits. Bachelor's Degree in Human Service field (social work, psychology) and working towards a Master's degree.

Job duties include:

  • Provides quality individual, couple, family, and sometimes group therapy, which is directed toward the client's diagnosis and needs.*
  • Provides services in an outpatient and community setting.*
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, recovery planning, and treatment interventions, in accordance with APC's provision of care policies.*
  • Understands and utilizes a variety of therapeutic interventions in accordance with the individual strengths and needs of the client and provides treatment to clients in a patient and helpful manner.*
  • Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with other professionals within the community and clinic.*
  • Functions well both as a team member and independently as needed.*
  • Maintains ongoing and current understanding of the American Psychological Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM).*
  • Adheres to paperwork or charting, and billing standards as set forth in the department's policies and procedures as dictated by state and county contractual agreements.*
  • Understands and adheres to mandatory reporting and privacy law requirements including HIPAA.*
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide treatment suited to the client's age.*
  • Continues professional growth and development by actively participating in continuing education and training activities, both within and outside the agency.*
  • Utilizes clinical supervision, peer review activities, and consumer satisfaction feedback effectively and regularly.*
  • Works well with a divergent client population.*
  • Demonstrates flexibility in accepting and treating clients outside of a particular area of specialization.*
  • Maintains a positive and cooperative attitude in the workplace.*
  • Adheres to clinical and ethical standards outlined in APC's Outpatient Policy and Procedures Manual, as well as additional professional standards as dictated by licenses and certifications held.*
  • Provides for the safety, security, and confidential treatment of clients, guests, and staff.*
  • Demonstrates ability to plan and organize work schedule within the time allotted.*
  • Participates in the performance improvement process and related activities as requested.*
  • Makes appropriate referrals to services within or outside the agency, as needed.
