Althing, a clinical service provider of innovative, proactive health services, is seeking a Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner to provide sports recovery and injury prevention services to college athletes. Responsibilities:

• Evaluate injuries and treat conditions related to injuries to the musculoskeletal system including bones, muscles, joints, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissue
• Provide sports recovery services and personalized recovery plans related to injuries as a result of the student's participation in exercises, sports, games, or recreation requiring physical strength, agility, flexibility, range of motion, speed, or stamina
• Monitor student’s recovery progress and work in partnership with Althing’s Medical Director (MD)
• Provide student education on injury prevention
• Order labs confirm diagnosis; order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe treatments including medications, ultrasound or a tens units, physical therapy
• Operate the ultrasound machine and tens units
• Provide care for acute and chronic conditions, focusing on pain management
• Issue referrals to specialty care services (orthopedic surgeons, etc)
• Engage in telehealth services to reach patients remotely
• Utilize relevant software for patient care documentation

Requirements:

• Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Minnesota is required
• Certification in CPR
• Experience in the fields of orthopedics, sports medicine, athlete services
• Experience in pain management, medication administration, and aseptic techniques
• Knowledge of telehealth services is a plus
• No history of malpractice or disciplinary actions
• Strong clinical knowledge and effective “bedside manner”
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work as an equal member of a interdisciplinary team
• Passion for innovation in healthcare coupled with a desire for equitable, quality care
• Working knowledge of EMR’s; experience with electronic medical record Athena is a plus

Pay: From $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
