Alaska's largest locally-owned CPA firm is seeking talent for its tax department! Altman, Rogers & Co. is seeking a staff tax accountant to join its team!
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
· Work on assigned segments of accounting or tax engagements
· Assume substantial responsibility (under supervision) for small accounting engagements invovleing individual or small business entities.
· Complete individual tax returns, trial balane preparation, payroll reporting, simple tax returns, and additional related tasks as assigned
· Stay up to day on firm policies, procedures and the AICPA and state CPA society’s rules, regulations and Code of Ethics.
· Regularly read and be familiar with changes in tax laws, including significant changes in the internal revenue code and other proposed developments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Required
· Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
Preferred
· Accounting work experience in public or private sector
· Has 150 credit hours (including upper level accounting credits to sit for the CPA exam
· Be in the process of passing the CPA exam
REQUIRED SKILLS
· Exceptional oral and written communication skills
· Self-directed; able to work with minimal supervision
· Management and prioritization of multiple and competing tasks and deadlines
· Detail-oriented and organized
· Proactive and effective communicator
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP
· Works under Tax Partner.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Hours: Monday- Friday, 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM. Overtime requirements may apply
