DescriptionJob Title: Quality Assurance Technician
Department: Operations
Reports to: Plant Manager with dotted line to Director of Quality
FLSA Status: Exempt
Travel: Limited, as needed to other sites
Job SummaryThe Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for training Inspector/Packers, verifying calibration tools throughout the plant, auditing the production line, coaching inspectors, notifying production supervisors of quality problems on the line and assisting with problem resolution, controlling the quarantine sorting and re-inspections, special inspections, and notifying/working with Quality Supervisor of any unresolved quality issues. The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter, a good manager of time, be able to work independently and follow Altor’s standards for safety and conduct.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe following list of major duties represents a composite list of typical duties performed by individuals in this position. Specific duties performed by the incumbent will vary depending upon the facility.
  • Designated trainer for Inspector Packer which includes following an approved training program and testing for basic safety and inspection duties. Teach or assist in the Inspector/Packer Quality Refresher Training.
  • Line auditing includes doing documented QA Inspections while reviewing Inspector/Packer quality inspections on the line, evaluating what has been scrapped and coaching employees on the quality standards.
  • Daily verifying all scales with calibrated weight sets in all production areas to ensure validity of measurements.
  • Work closely with Production Supervisors on evaluating and correcting production quality problems.
  • Manage all production line hold/quarantine activities, document and control the sorting process.
  • Work closely with the Quality Manager/Supervisor on quarantine and sorting operations and notify them promptly of any unresolved quality issues and any product that has been quarantined
  • Perform and document any special warehouse or dock audits.
  • Ensure quality standards are provided for all inspection activities throughout the facility.
  • Collaborating with production teams to identify and address quality issues.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspections and test results.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and production efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize quality processes
  • All other duties as assigned
RequirementsQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education Requirements/Work Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
  • 2 years of experience in a quality control role
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with quality control tools and techniques, such as statistical process control and root cause analysis
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards, such as ISO 9001 preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed
  • Manufacturing industry-specific experience preferred
