Alutiiq is Hiring a Lead Systems Engineer, Electrical Near Huntsville, AL

Alutiiq Operations Services, LLC a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC has an opening for a Lead Systems Engineer, Electrical at Marshall Space Flight Center is a technical authority responsible for overseeing the electrical systems within a complex operational environment. This role requires maintaining a comprehensive understanding of related work issues, including environmental and safety requirements, systems integration, and monitoring concepts. The Lead Systems Engineer will ensure the continued state-of-the-art performance of assigned systems, provide expert advice on system reliability and efficiency, and lead a team of engineers in supporting mission-critical operations.

This opportunity is for a POTENTIAL CONTRACT award and is contingent upon the contract being awarded. Consideration for a potential contract may require a signed letter of intent. If the contract is awarded, another position posting will be available on the Company Careers portal.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise: Maintain state-of-the-art technical knowledge in electrical systems, ensuring compliance with the latest standards and practices. Stay abreast of developments in related fields, such as environmental and safety requirements, systems integration, and monitoring and metering technologies.
  • ​Communication with NASA: Keep NASA contract and technical monitors informed of significant system status updates and key events. Provide clear, concise, and accurate reports to ensure all stakeholders are aware of critical developments.
  • ​Scope and Work Statements: Develop detailed scopes of work, specifications, and procurement packages for outsourcing technical consulting, operations, repairs, or other services. Ensure all documentation is thorough and meets the highest standards of accuracy and completeness.
  • ​System Performance and Reliability: Provide expert guidance on preventive maintenance (PM) and Predictive Testing & Inspection (PT&I) programs aimed at enhancing system performance, addressing operational deficiencies, and improving overall reliability and efficiency.
  • ​Disposition of Government Equipment: Evaluate and recommend the disposition of government-owned equipment in cases of failure or obsolescence, ensuring that decisions are made in the best interest of the mission and facility operations.
  • ​Support to RCM Engineer: Collaborate closely with the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) engineer, providing support and expertise to enhance the reliability and performance of critical systems.
  • ​Field Engineering Support: Offer field engineering support to maintenance and Building Automation System (BAS) technicians, ensuring that technical issues are resolved quickly and effectively to minimize downtime and operational impact.
  • ​Team Leadership: Supervise and direct the work of senior and junior systems engineers, ensuring that all team members are aligned with project goals and are contributing effectively to the success of the mission.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree: A BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited engineering school is required.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam: Satisfactory completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is mandatory.
  • Professional Engineer Registration: Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of seven to ten years of related experience in electrical systems engineering, with a strong background in managing complex projects and leading technical teams.
