- Offering input toward Individual Support Planning (ISP).
- Provide individualized care, and implement activities of daily living, including proper maintenance of living areas to foster maximum independence of the individual.
- Provide compassionate instruction and direct assistance in life skills areas like managing leisure time, money, and medication, using outside resources, shopping, and vocational development.
- Assist with daily home maintenance tasks, such as laundry and housekeeping, to maintain a normal living environment.
- Identify and recognize the needs of the individuals (e.g. meal planning, personal care, etc.)
- Attend required in-service training.
- Maintain professional and effective communication with other agency personnel, individual families, and outside contacts.
- Direct Support Professionals also provide aid with daily activities such as meal preparation and personal hygiene.
- Second and third shift available.
- Need to be open to work at least 2 of the 3 shifts offered.
- At least 6 months of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or related fields is preferred.
- Must be 18 year of age, or older.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Must be physically capable of walking, climbing stairs, bending, reaching, standing and lifting 40 pounds.
- Communication, reading and writing skills in English, as well as basic math and computer skills are required.
- Ability and willingness to learn quickly, be detail oriented and be observant.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen and TB Test/Chest X-Ray.
- Drug screening and background check required.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Online training required.
