Job Summary:

A confidential family-owned business specializing in designing and distributing customized packaging for restaurants and related industries is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. This position will collaborate with a team of four focusing on accounting and sound financial management of the business.

Location: 

This position requires working at the home office in St. Petersburg, FL, Monday through Friday.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform daily bank reconciliations and verify all bank activity is recorded in QuickBooks. 
• Enter accounts payable invoices and employee expense reports. 
• Prepare the check run and process payments. 
• Conduct month-end closing procedures. 
• Prepare the monthly financial reporting package. 
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations. 
• Prepare and analyze actual vs forecast results. 
• Stay updated on and apply acceptable accounting practices and procedures. 

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. 
• Superior organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. 
• Proficiency in general financial accounting
• Strong understanding of and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
• 1-3 three years of accounting experience is preferred.
• Significant experience may substitute for education.
