Key job responsibilities
* Develop manufacturing test related software which includes software integration, hardware control and data management
* Understand functional principles of Kuiper satellite hardware manufacturing system, software and all backend services that enable the manufacturing operations of satellites.
* Software development using Python, LabVIEW and C/C /Rust.
* Participate in the full life-cycle of development from planning all the way to deployment and maintenance stages
* Develop highly reliable manufacturing hardware from low level to tester control and management application level
* Work closely with hardware and systems engineers to support board-bring up and design of control algorithms
* Automate build, test and deploy pipelines.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
A day in the life
As a Hardware Development Engineer, you will be a member of the Kuiper Optical ISL Development Team, focusing on the design, implementation, and verification of software systems to control complex manufacturing test equipment, manage data storage and integrate with Kuiper manufacturing system. You will be responsible for identifying top level requirements and ensuring high quality and innovative designs are pursued, while also supporting other Project Kuiper colleagues with reviewing and improving other manufacturing software system designs.

We are looking for an outstanding hardware engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of top-notch engineers and collaborate closely with the optical, electrical, firmware, and opto-mechanical development teams.
You should be comfortable with some degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before. Along the way, you'll learn a lot, have fun and make a positive impact on hundreds of millions of people.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 2 years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience with hardware/software integration and real-time systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $86,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
