The Amazon Monitoring and Observability Team is searching for a Senior Software Engineer to come and join a creative team dedicated to changing the way the world sees the Cloud!
The Amazon Monitoring and Observability team are inventing and building unique time series analytic solutions to both AWS customers and Amazon's internal service owners. You and your team will work to deliver services that use probabilistic and machine learning techniques to provide insights and identify anomalies in customer data. The services and features you build will be used by AWS customers to detect anomalous behavior, gain insights from high cardinality data and produced advanced real-time metrics analysis.
We seek the right person to come join us and help lead and create services and automation for the cloud monitoring mission. This is an opportunity to be directly involved in creating and defining a mission for a new service and to design, develop and own systems that provide monitoring services for our most sensitive customers. Key job responsibilities
Senior Software Engineers in Amazon have a high level of autonomy in how they operate and deliver results, and we encourage them to experiment.
Our ideal candidates are passionate about building monitoring services at a very large scale. They would be excited to think big and tackle large problems with big payoff. Ideally they should have an established background in delivering high-quality customer-facing solutions, strong technical skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. In return; you will work with a supportive, tightly knit and excited team of all levels of seniority so you will have opportunities to both mentor more junior engineers as well as be mentored by more senior engineers. Your responsibilities will include building and operating AWS services, growing and mentoring our team of engineers and plenty of hands on coding and design work. As you get comfortable in the team, you will have opportunities to work on strategic planning, product definition and customer communication as you grow in seniority.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
