What are the responsibilities and job description for the EHS Manager position at AmbioPharm, Inc.?
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, and develop all EHS employees and programs to meet industry standards and compliance for all regulating agencies such as South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC-DHEC), EPA, OSHA, South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Registration (SC-DLLR), and other applicable federal, state, and local agencies.
- Oversee site environmental and safety compliance activities including enforcement of existing GMP-specific safety procedures (NSaf) and OSHA applicable procedures.
- Arrange for wastewater testing and prepare reports according to industry regulations and manage waste movements from delivery to placement /disposition /destruction within the designated waste accumulation area.
- Provide subject matter expertise in safety ensuring industry best practices are followed.
- Participate in writing, investigation, and resolution of incident reports site wide.
- Create and manage site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for applicable safety and environmental requirements.
- Prepare the SARA Title III, Tier II report for the site.
- Provide training on EHS subject matter to new employees and existing staff, as needed.
- Develop monthly waste disposal forecasts for 3rd party waste recyclers for CAN waste.
- Manage site Safety Committee program.
- Mange site Emergency Response Team program.
- Investigate all accidents to determine the root cause and provide recommendations that eliminate or reduce future hazard or risk.
- Conduct regular safety inspection audits of the various departments every month.
- Provide oversight of site fire protection systems
- Must manage inert and hazardous chemical waste at the site. Complete required training as needed.
- Ensure proper EHS permitting and annual submissions are executed and completed.
- Oversee safety contractors and consultants as needed to meet site EHS objectives.
These responsibilities may change based on the business demand and the company's organizational needs.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA, DOT, NFPA, EPA, other governmental regulations and laws including OSHA 300 logs and requirements by our insurance providers.
- Minimum of 8 years or more experience in managing site EHS activities in an industrial, pharmaceutical, or chemical processing environment
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of statistics, data collection and analysis.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations.
- Associate degree in Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent is preferred but not required.
- Background in developing and implementing EHS programs.
- OSHA General Industry 10- or 30-hour training course
- Forklift training experience.
- Efficient use of Microsoft Office products with special emphasis using Microsoft Excel.

- Must be able to push, pull, squat, stand and walk through-out the day.
- Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to wear safety shoes & glasses through-out the day while in designated areas. (provided by the company)
- You must be able to work in a chemical environment.
- Sitting and working at a computer station for 2-6 hours/day
- Standing and walking in safety shoes for up to 8 hours/day
- Ability to wear an air-purifying and/or Supplied Air respirator for up to 2 hours at one time.
