Description
The EHS Specialist is responsible for Safety and Environmental programs and compliance within all government regulations. This position must be familiar with all government regulations pertaining to Environmental and Safety regulations and good industry practice.
This position requires an extremely perceptive person, who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. They must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the business needs.
Implementing safety programs across an assigned area to ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations
• Conducting site audits to ensure site compliance with the organization's safety programs
• Evaluating hazardous conditions, unsafe acts, and near hits, and making adjustments to improve the safety of the work environment
• Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills – ability to drive root cause analysis, focus on details, identify issues, prioritize quickly and recommend solutions Highly organized, able to effectively plan/manage deliverables and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Providing site-specific safety training and ensuring proper documentation and records of completed training
• Integrating all safety programs into new site start-ups to ensure a safe and healthy work environment upon service delivery
• Working with Site Leadership and employees to ensure safety objectives at the sites are met
• Communicating with customer safety contacts to ensure alignment and to address any compliance issues
• Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety, or equivalent level of experience
• Previous experience working with safety programs in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Proficiency in OSHA and EPA regulations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to travel at least 10% of the time
Qualifications
Pivotal Experience & Expertise
• Experienced with implementing and continuously improving environmental and OSHA safety programs within a one site facility including ensuring all permitting and required information stays up to date.
• Experienced with providing site specific training to all levels of plant staff which complies with environmental and safety laws, guidelines, and best practices.
• Experience partnering with internal and external stakeholders, including plant leadership and engineering departments, to design and implement protocols ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local standards.
• Conducts site audits to ensure site compliance with the organization's safety programs and recommends and implements actions for improving site safety including training employees at all levels within the plant.
• Knowledgeable regarding wastewater and air quality standards including the ability to communicate action steps to leadership for buy in.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously on assigned projects and meet required deadlines.
• Demonstrates strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills – ability to drive root cause analysis, focus on details, identify issues, prioritize quickly and recommend solutions.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing environmental or safety based role.
• Proficiency in EPA and OSHA regulations required
• Environmental or Safety based certifications strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to travel 10% of the time
