Ambri, an energy startup commercializing an innovative battery technology first developed at MIT, seeks a college student who is pursuing an Engineering degree for our newly added 10-week summer Battery Development internship. The successful candidate is not only curious but is a self-starter who seeks a challenge and a fast paced environment. Working within the Cell Design team, this role works alongside a collegial group of leading battery engineers and scientists who seek to leave the world a better place.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigations into material and process parameters that will help inform the design of next generation cell, system, and cell assembly equipment
• Develop testing processes for cell and system components and perform testing and validation of new designs, following through on changes from idea to implementation and documentation
• Construct, troubleshoot, and maintain lab-scale manufacturing equipment including vacuum systems, inert-gas gloveboxes, and furnaces
• Identify, plan, and execute projects to improve personal safety, product, quality, weekly throughput, and equipment robustness

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or materials science
• Experience with CAD drafting software, preferably SolidWorks
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work with minimal oversight
• Proven self-starter with resiliency, and the drive to complete work even in the face of adversity or setbacks
• Strong organization skills
• Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
• Able to, and desire to work in a research & development (R&D) environment
• Strong organizational skills
• Clear communicator and good listener
