We are currently seeking a Dir, Strategic Ops & Planning to join our global agile transformation based in our New York, New York headquarters.Job SummaryThe Director of Strategic Operations & Planning is a key member of the Technology Delivery team within Global Technology & Operations, driving operational insights and analyses that inform strategic planning for the organization. This role functions as one of the main inputs into project and portfolio planning, while assisting leaders in their efforts to make decisions and implement operational improvements that enhance the organization’s performance. The type of work spans new service launches and scaleouts, content operations initiatives, contractual commitments with partners, and app experience features and enhancements, among others.
The Director of Strategic Operations & Planning manages the intake of new business requests in the Operations Pipeline, overseeing the analysis and routing of each one, while tracking key metrics. They monitor and standardize the Discovery phase, gathering and documenting requirements, process flows, gaps, decisions, issues, and risks. They may capture multiple approaches to accomplishing the goal and make recommendations based on findings. This is a highly collaborative role that requires frequent interfacing with stakeholders from multiple business areas, at all levels within the organization.
The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced Project Management or Media Operations professional with a disciplined approach to analyzing and synthesizing information from multiple sources. They are a strong collaborator with impeccable written and verbal communication skills, are curious and open-minded, and demonstrate excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. To be successful the role requires the ability to work across a diverse range of internal departments, such as sales, rights management, marketing, programming, creative services, media operations, digital products, and IT, which span time zones and regions.
Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee the intake of all business requests in the Operations Pipeline, categorizing, analyzing, and routing each one.
  • Capture, track, and report key metrics related to the pipeline and its requests.
  • Collaborate with Executive leadership, Project Managers, and delivery teams to drive strategic alignment and goals realization.
  • Align to and manage monthly, quarterly, and yearly budget processes, managing financial reporting against budget and projections.
  • Create visibility of business benefits and results produced by projects, including coordination with Finance and Management.
  • Work closely with all constituents to prioritize requests based on business needs, resource capacity, risk exposure, and interdependencies.
  • Leads the execution of Operational Discovery for all requests, gathering and documenting all requirements, process flows, gaps, decisions, issues, and risks associated with the approach.
  • Manages the process of converting Discovery findings into project requests in Service Now, or process flow enhancements.
  • Responsible for contributing to strategic planning process and implementation of both short- and long-term strategic plans, organizational analysis, operational KPIs, special projects and developing and preparing materials for senior management.
  • Provide and/or develop reports/assessments/deliverables using Microsoft and/or Atlassian Applications.
  • Facilitate scope definition, cross-functional estimates and high-level planning workshops.
  • Assist in identifying operational barriers and developing solutions to continue implementing strategy.
  • Help define and drive the adoption of Tech Delivery’s frameworks and methodology.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in media/entertainment, communications, computer science or business management strongly preferred.
  • 7-10 years of relevant work experience required.
  • 5 years' experience managing a team of 2 direct reports.
  • Experience in process mapping and requirements gathering and documentation required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization required.
  • Ability to take the initiative to identify, prioritize and implement all elements required in accordance with AMCN’s strategic goals.
  • Experience working within the Streaming, Media or Broadcast industries strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience participating in strategic planning and development activities is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within global organizations is helpful.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to capture and communicate information in visual, easily digestible ways.
  • Curious, creative and collaborative.
  • Ability to easily initiate and cultivate business relationships.
  • Ability to lead or facilitate meetings.
The base compensation range for this position is $135,000 to $150,000 commensurate with experience.
