Job Description
Position Overview:
Responsible for ensuring operating policies and procedures for managing all phases of purchasing raw materials, production scheduling/control and inventory control. Manages through the use of SAP systems. Manages all functions of both internal and outside warehouse, including receiving, material handling, shuttling and customer shipments. Supervise salaried/hourly personnel at the assigned location(s) responsible for the coordination and performance of the plants overall materials management.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Manage the overall materials planning/scheduling, in conjunction with the operations group: Proper management of inventory levels to ensure that customers needs are satisfied and that company's exposure to OSM is minimized for both finished goods and raw materials. Manage the purchase of raw materials, inventory levels and develops plans to maintain production needs. May also be involved in the purchase of other materials and services from outside contractors such as forklift maintenance and plant supplies. As a manager, assures all plant safety/accident prevention policies are adhered to as stated in the employee handbook. This includes maintaining cleanliness in the warehouse area, maintaining a safe work environment and safe work practices, accident investigation when necessary, and ensuring any outside contractors adhere to Amcor policies and procedures. May negotiate and set up new vendors and purchasing contracts, as necessary. Solicits quotations and finds sources for improved products, lower cost and faster delivery. Handles periodic physical inventory of raw materials and finished goods and reconciles actual usage as shown on SAP system. Promotes continual improvement and cooperation between departments to solve problems, as designated by the Plant Manager. Support the Plant Controller as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in business management or combined experience may be considered.
  • Minimum five to seven years in materials or operations in a manufacturing environment, preferably in plastic injection, blow molding or packaging.
  • Proficient SAP, CDM and Microsoft Office experience.
  • Ability to work cross functionally both internally and externally with customers.
