Job Description***Remote in the United States, but preferred to commute to Ann Arbor, MI*** Job OverviewTo manage the NA Direct Materials (DM) spend through the development, implementation and management of an advantaged category strategy, in collaboration with AGG and LATAM, that is aligned with the Amcor Rigid Packaging (ARP) business strategy/plan, and the dynamic competitive environment. Direct Materials defined as: PET, Olefins, Colorants & Additives and Recycled Resins. Amcor practices the ‘Value Chain Initiative’ model for DM negotiations and sourcing is managed and executed through AGG in Zurich, Switzerland Principal Accountabilities
NA DM Plan Development & Execution, in collaboration with LATAM DM team
Lead development of the North America (NA) & support the Latin America (LATAM) DM Category Strategy through a collaborative, cross functional approach with the regional stakeholders. Collaborate with other global Business Groups (BGs) to drive best value for Amcor and ARP.
Drive sustainability agenda and implementation of recycled content targets through complex sourcing mix of PCR strategic partnerships, M&A activity, and virgin resin co-sourcing
Provide fact-based analysis to support targeted competitive market positioning and growth
Demonstrate alignment to ARP business strategy through active collaboration with cross functional stakeholders and effective procurement representation.
Identify and build strategic partnerships with suppliers whose capabilities, innovation and strategy are aligned/complementary to the ARP Global DM Category Strategy
Identify and mitigate risks associated with the selected strategy to ensure business continuity and competitive advantage
Define and deliver tactical execution plan in support of the defined strategy timing and objectives
DM Performance Management
Finance: Collaborate with Business Units (BU) to drive and manage the NA DM buy-sell financials for all direct materials as part of the ARP financial reporting system
Value Creation: Manage, through cross functional leadership, the Procure Plus value delivery to targets and BU expectations as part of ARP value creation operating model
Supplier Performance: Manage, along with Quality and Operations leadership NA DM performance for Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) as part of the ARP supplier management process
Category Expertise: Continue to develop and sharpen category capabilities to drive sustainable value creation and competitive advantage to BUs and Amcor overall
Business Process Development & Implementation
Collaborate, define, and implement ‘best in industry’ business processes related to a NA and LATAM Direct Materials scope (ex: AMQ, Buy-Sell etc.)
Talent Development & Succession Planning
Identify, mentor, manage and develop talent across all levels to enable sustained value delivery, category expertise and succession planning
Collaborate with other Procurement Leadership Team (PLT) members to implement consistent policies, capabilities and career development plans for overall talent development
Through Collaboration With AGG And LATAM DM Team, The Director, NA Direct Materials Strategic Supplier Development Will Ensure All Related AGG Deliverables Are Aligned With The Global DM Strategy, And The ARP Global Business Strategy. These Deliverables Include
Negotiation & Sourcing
Lead and manage regional RFQ process in alignment with the defined Global DM Category Strategy
Define and negotiate supply agreements with selected strategic partners that meet/exceed defined Business Plan targets and targeted competitive market positioning
Identify and mitigate risk associated with the sourcing process
Sourcing Execution
Manage the day to day operational sourcing duties with the regional supply chain and finance groups
Purchase Orders
Invoice Management
Price & Volume Reconciliation
Manage regional volume weighted price point through dynamic price tracking and sourcing of spot and wide spec resin where applicable
Supplier & Contractual Management
Manage/execute supply agreement definition as required to protect the competitive market position for ARP resin buy
Champion and own all things commercial as related to the Global DM Supply Base (Supplier Liaison)
Recover ARP incurred costs associated with supplier incidents
Track/manage supplier Total Cost of Ownership – implement corrective actions are required
Commercial Support
Create and distribute a monthly NA/LATAM market report on DM market dynamics and the influence on the DM pricing forecast.
External (with customers): Quantify ARP’s value proposition in buying DM for customers
Internal: Quantity ARP competitive market position versus the next best alternative in each regional market
Establish customer relationships - establish Amcor as a DM buying expert within the region through re-occurring customer engagement
Support the regional commercial business development with DM pricing in support of new business
Major Challenges & Complexities
Develop trust within the businesses so that where there are conflicting priorities or other issues manage these to ensure that all involved understand the issues and agree with the solutions put forward
Manage a collaborative relationship with AGG in the delivery world class DM pricing within the VCI framework
Develop supplier relationships in a way that encourages open dialogue and encourages cooperation in identifying and implementing win/win situations that add value to both organizations
Manage a wide scope of responsibilities with ability to understand the details.

Qualifications/Requirement: Knowledge and Experience
Minimum 7 years of direct category management experience with demonstrated results across broad objectives
Minimum 5 years working in a continuous improvement format, with accountability to deliver results on a monthly basis
Education and Certifications
University degree in a relevant discipline, MBA preferred
Green Belt/Black Belt or similar continuous improvement professional training or experience

Experience in the selection, preparation and execution of commercial agreements relevant to the category being sourced

Working knowledge of company information and data systems used by Procurement
Understanding of key administrative systems that impact Procurement and suppliers
Procurement technical skills, confirmed capability in each of the Key Sourcing Skills
Mastery of tools such as: develop and implement Sourcing Strategies, apply Policy, run Inquiry, conduct Negotiation, Benchmark, draft and execute commercial agreements and forecast
Experience in Hypothesis Testing and applying analytical and problem-solving skills
