Job Description Advances Manufacturing (Automation) Team - Is the first working level of the engineering series. Incumbents perform routine engineering project tasks independently and receive closer supervision when assisting in more complex engineering project tasks. This role has no direct reports. WHAT YOU GET TO DO Safety Aligns with and actively supports Amcor values by putting safety first in all situation. Integrity Determines customer’s needs by identifying problems and safety concerns. Develop and evaluate solutions thereby defining project scope. Coordinates, prepares and/or assembles the engineering package/project documentation for each assigned project based on direction provided from manager. Collaboration Interfaces with people, departments, and/or companies to ensure that equipment is safe, made on schedule and to specification. Provides the purchasing services for project materials required. This includes reviewing potential vendors, contacts with vendors, coordinating with the Purchasing department, issuing purchase orders, some price negotiation, and expediting delivery. Accountability Manages project costs, project scheduling, and communicates pertinent data to appropriate areas for engineering projects which may vary in terms of scope and responsibilities. Results and Outperformance Actively participates on continuous improvement / kaizen teams. Secures and maintains knowledge of current industry practices as they may apply to Amcor products and equipment. Assists with installation, checkout, start-up and training as necessary. Cash and Capital Discipline Able to understand and apply basic cash discipline when organizing and placing parts and equipment orders to keep projects within budget. Role Emphasis Facilities Understanding of engineering concepts (electrical or mechanical base on job emphasis) Assists with testing and validation facility and manufacturing infrastructure designs and systems. Assists with engineering calculations to support facility and manufacturing infrastructure engineering work. Reviews technical plans, drawings and specifications for manufacturing infrastructure engineering work. Controls Understanding of electrical engineering concepts Assists with testing and validation of machine instrumentation with the controls package. Assist with the integration and development of team IT resources related to engineering functions such as PLC/machine control, HMI function and edge device use. Reviews technologies to be used for future applications and extensions of current architecture. Mechanical Understanding of mechanical engineering concepts Assists with testing and validation mechanical machine designs and systems. Assist with engineering calculations to support mechanical engineering work. Reviews technical plans, drawings and specifications for mechanical engineering work. Electrical Understanding of electrical engineering concepts Assists with testing and validation electrical machine designs and systems. Assists with engineering calculations to support electrical engineering work. Reviews technical plans, drawings and specifications for electrical engineering work. Industrial Understanding of industrial/manufacturing engineering principles and practices. Assists in conducting studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. Based on these studies, assists to develop and implement optimized product flow. Assists in validating IE requirements with multiple automation integrators and verifies that automation solution/proposals aligned with business strategies using Just-In-Time/Lean manufacturing tools and techniques. Assists in collecting/analyzing data and works with the Sr. IEs to validate current state processes/flows to establish an accurate model of the operation of a system. Learns how to create Discrete Event Simulation (DES) baselines and collaborates with the Sr. IE to propose/validate future automation solutions that improve cycle time, WIP, bottlenecks, throughput, capacity, resource utilization, and production rate changes of complex production systems. Automation Understanding of electrical engineering, controls, robotics, and/or automation Assists with developing test plans to burndown risk for automation projects and set requirements for FATs and SATs. Assists with testing and validation automation systems. Assists in reviewing technical drawings, plans, proposals, RFQs, RFQ responses, and specifications for automation work. Assists with estimating, developing, and deploying automation technology solutions. IoT Understanding of electrical engineering and or computer science concepts Assists with testing and validation IoT systems. Assists with developing and deploying IoT technology solutions.
