The RoleDo you want to write GPU libraries that are the foundation of accelerated computing? AMD is searching for talented and motivated software developers to join the AMD Radeon Open Ecosystem (ROCm) team developing high performance GPU libraries. These open-source GPU libraries provide building blocks for math (linear algebra, Fourier transforms), machine learning and artificial intelligence, data science, parallel algorithms, image and video processing, and GPU to GPU communication.
The PersonYou are accustomed to working in a dynamic, geographically distributed agile team, where partnership and collaboration are paramount. You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to express your work in a clear, cohesive fashion. Most importantly, you are constantly thinking of ways to extract additional performance from software and hardware.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test algorithms for GPU libraries
- Benchmark, profile and optimize code to maximize throughput on single and multi-GPU systems
- Deliver high-quality code and documentation following best practices for open-source software development
- Work with key technical experts across AMD and with our partners and customers to improve ROCm applications, libraries, and tools, as well as AMD GPU hardware
- Apply software engineering methodologies to ensure robust, maintainable code
- Develop technical relationships with peers and partners
- Strong background developing applications and libraries in C/C or Python
- GPU software development using HIP, CUDA, or OpenCL
- Understanding of CPU and GPU architectures and low-level optimization techniques including assembly programming and/or vectorization
- Parallel programming experience using OpenMP, MPI
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art algorithms in any of the above mentioned library domains
- In-depth knowledge of best-practices in software development, including testing, profiling, debugging, documentation, version control, issue tracking, and planning
- B.Sc. or B.Eng. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent
- Advanced degrees, such as M.Sc., M.Eng., Ph.D. are preferred
