AMECO is Hiring a Senior Tool Technician Near Tyler, TX

The Senior Tool Technician assists and supports others in a department, subdivision, function, or project. The position relies primarily on established policies, procedures, and applicable work practices to make decisions as they apply to the job duties and responsibilities.
The purpose of this position is to restore used and damaged tools to proper working order. This position typically reports to the Tool Technician Supervisor. This position receives minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review the repair needs of each item to assess the cost-effectiveness of the repair; assist other technicians in making this determination.
  • Determine parts needs and request parts orders as inventory gets low or as specialty items are needed.
  • Repair tools to proper working order.
  • Perform maintenance testing (after repair) to ensure the product is operating at full capacity.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.
  • Plan, organize, and carry out assignments as directed.
  • Adhere to and support AMECO’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies.
  • Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job.
  • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent , or
  • A combination of education and directly related experience equal to five (5) years.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of experience in the construction equipment industry, including vendor training.
  • Physically able to hold, repair, and adjust small tools.
  • Physically able to squat, stoop, bend, climb, lie on back, lift and pull, reach up and out, lift 70 pounds, carry 50 pounds, and use a 10-pound sledgehammer (or global weight equivalents).
  • Advanced knowledge of tool craftsmanship and repair techniques, including electrical, air, hydraulics, lifts, and gauges.
  • Ability to obtain an internal forklift license.
  • Ability to train other technicians as needed.
  • Ability to safely load and unload tools for shipping and repair.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
Certifications, Licenses, Registration: Previous license operating a forklift AND stock picker.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Physical Demands/Requirements: Individuals will be required to frequently sit/drive stand, walk, lift/carry, reach, stoop, push/pull, handle/grasp/feel, talk, hear, climb step ladder, engage in repetitive motions and demonstrate eye/hand/foot coordination. Close vision is required for this job. Employees are required to regularly lift, carry and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds, and use a 10-pound sledgehammer. Position frequently demands light to heavy physical work.
Work Environment:
  • This position is based in a warehouse/distribution setting.
  • Role involves working alone and collaborating as part of a team. Often required to work at a fast pace to meet deadlines, thus some stress may occur.
  • Environmental conditions include frequent exposure to heat, temperature changes, noise and humidity.
  • Occasionally the performance of this position will require exposure to production/manufacturing areas, which may result in being near moving mechanical parts or being exposed to fumes or airborne particles. These respective areas will require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection or hard hats. The noise level in the production/manufacturing areas is usually loud.
Travel Requirements: Availability as requested/required for after-hour emergency calls, and necessary overtime as the workload dictates.
