We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Accountant, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to join our finance team in a dual role focusing on technical accounting and SEC reporting. This position will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and transparency of the company's financial reporting processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

This role will be responsible for assisting with the interpretation and application of accounting standards, as well as supporting the preparation and filing of SEC reports. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, SEC reporting requirements, and excellent analytical skills.to play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting processes within the organization. Responsibilities will include: 

  • Assist in the interpretation and application of accounting standards, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), to ensure proper accounting treatment for complex transactions.
  • Support the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual reports on Form 6-K and Form 20-F, respectively, in compliance with SEC regulations and IFRS.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, investor relations, and external auditors, to gather relevant information and ensure accurate and timely completion of SEC filings.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and SEC reporting requirements and assist in assessing their impact on the company's financial reporting.
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards and reporting requirements, including updates to SEC rules and regulations.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and footnotes for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development and maintenance of policies and procedures related to technical accounting and SEC reporting processes.
  • Assist in responding to inquiries from regulators, investors, and other external stakeholders regarding the company's financial disclosures.
  • Provide support to other members of the finance team on ad-hoc projects and initiatives as needed.

What We're Looking For

This role requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field, and a CPA designation. We are seeking a candidate with a minimum 3 years of experience in technical accounting, SEC reporting, and financial analysis, preferably in public accounting or a publicly traded company. Other qualifications include:

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX requirements. IFRS a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and interpret complex accounting issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally.

This role is ideally based in the New York City or Chicagoland area, though remote based candidates are encouraged to apply as we are prioritizing candidate fit over physical location.

  • In New York, this role will work a flexible hybrid model based in our New York Office, located in the Flatiron District.
  • In Chicago, this role will work a flexible hybrid model based at Wilson Sporting Goods Co. global headquarters.
