Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Marine Joiner, Carpenter, or a similar role in the shipbuilding industry.
Comprehensive knowledge of carpentry techniques and woodworking machinery.
Ability to read and follow blueprints and technical drawings.
Strong attention to detail with excellent manual dexterity.
High school diploma or equivalent; formal training from a vocational school in carpentry or joinery is highly desirable.
Must be able to work in various environments, including confined spaces and at different heights.
Responsibilities:
Fabricate and install various wooden structures and fixtures, such as cabinets, desks, bulkheads, doors, and trim using carpentry tools and machines.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and construction requirements of ship compartments.
Measure and cut materials accurately to ensure a tight fit and finish for all joinery work.
Apply knowledge of various types of wood and composite materials best suited for marine applications.
Install insulation in walls and panels as needed.
Ensure all joinery work complies with marine safety regulations and standards.
Collaborate with other tradespeople such as electricians and plumbers to ensure proper integration of services with joinery elements.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Conduct repairs on existing woodwork and structures aboard vessels, ensuring durability and functionality.
