OverviewThe Lending Operations Manager is a strategic leadership role, designed for an innovative leader with a track record of significantly enhancing lending and sales operations. This role is at the forefront of driving strategic initiatives that bolster lending and sales, focusing on projects such as Automated Decisioning and the evolution of AFCU’s digital lending platforms. This position is tasked with the advanced development and oversight of performance scorecards for the lending division, streamlining compliance measures, and innovating compensation schemes for sales and collection teams. Emphasizing goal management, model and algorithm innovation, portfolio analysis, data integrity, CRM optimization, digital lending process improvement, lead cultivation, system enhancements, and advanced analytics, this role is crucial to the strategic growth and efficiency of the Credit Union’s lending and sales functions.
ResponsibilitiesAs the Lending Operations Manager reporting directly to the VP of Consumer Lending, Sales and Operations, this role is central to driving strategic leadership and innovation, pivotal in advancing our Credit Union's lending and sales sectors. With a profound understanding of our strategic objectives, this position leads initiatives that synchronize with these goals through exceptional project management, strategic allocation of resources, and the realization of impactful results. Tasked with propelling revenue growth through diligent target setting, forecasting, budgeting, and the optimization of sales and lending operations, the Manager also plays a crucial role in spearheading lending automation initiatives, enhancing digital lending experiences for our members, and leveraging data and technology to improve operational efficiencies.
A key responsibility of this role includes overseeing lending compliance, ensuring all operations adhere to regulatory standards and practices. This involves staying updated with lending regulations, implementing compliance strategies, and conducting regular audits to maintain adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
Another key responsibility of the Lending Operations Manager is overseeing the compensation, business intelligence, and process improvement within the collections division. This entails devising and managing compensation plans that motivate and retain staff while aligning with the division's goals and compliance requirements. Additionally, the Manager is tasked with leveraging business intelligence to inform strategic decisions and drive efficiency, as well as identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance operational effectiveness and member satisfaction.
Additionally, the position entails comprehensive vendor management for lending-related vendors. The Manager is responsible for selecting, negotiating with, and managing relationships with these vendors, ensuring that their services and products meet our strategic needs and compliance standards. This includes overseeing contracts, managing performance, and ensuring that vendor partnerships deliver value to our lending operations and ultimately, our members.
Collaboration is paramount in this role. The Lending Operations Manager works closely with various departments to execute large-scale projects that enhance our sales and lending strategies, necessitating a robust understanding of the Credit Union's strategic plans, superior project management capabilities, effective resource planning, and the alignment of projects with resources to achieve significant objectives.
Leading lending automation projects, including automated decisioning and instant funding, is a significant part of this role. The Manager must adeptly identify the analytical and reporting needs of the business, translating these into technical solutions. This demands a thorough knowledge of system development, an understanding of the analytics framework, and the ability to direct technical documentation efforts for IT development projects.
Expertise in both relational and multi-dimensional databases is essential, as well as the ability to analyze data within reports and dashboards comprehensively. The role requires effective communication with all levels of management, providing support in deploying effective performance reporting and operational insights to drive the Credit Union’s strategic and operational excellence.
Enhanced Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Reports to the VP of Consumer Lending, Sales and Operations, playing a crucial role in shaping the lending and sales strategy of the Credit Union.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Oversees pivotal external relationships with key partners such as Experian, TruStage, Allied Solutions, WithClutch, , ensuring these partnerships are leveraged to enhance the Credit Union’s product offerings and operational efficiency. Also responsible for vetting new vendors, onboarding them, and maintaining a positive business relationship and strategy.
  • Product Management: Directs the management and strategic alignment of ancillary products including GAP, MBP, Consumer Life, and Disability Insurance, ensuring these offerings are competitive and meet the needs of our members. Also, overseeing the claims filing process and payment of claims and other support related items.
  • Process Improvement and Digital Automation: Leads initiatives aimed at process optimization and the integration of digital automation solutions across lending operations to enhance efficiency, member experience, and operational agility.
Essential Functions And Basic Duties
  • Leadership and Team Management: Directs a dynamic team of strategists, analysts, system administrators, and project managers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Project Management Excellence: Manages a portfolio of projects focused on sales operations, lending enhancements, process improvements, and digital automation, ensuring these initiatives drive member value and operational efficiency.
  • Loan Application and Member Experience: Streamlines the loan application process, enhancing workflows and implementing instant funding solutions to improve member and employee experiences.
  • Performance Analysis and Strategy Development: Analyzes lending and sales performance, developing strategies that align with and propel the Credit Union’s goals for growth and member satisfaction.
  • Operational Support and Strategy: Enhances the operational framework for lending and collections, focusing on compensation models, performance metrics, and compliance standards.
  • Strategic Communication: Acts as a key communicator for introducing and implementing sales and lending innovations, aligning departmental objectives with the Credit Union’s strategic goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Workflow Optimization: Ensures lending operations adhere to regulatory standards, designing loan workflows that balance compliance with operational efficiency.
  • Ancillary Sales and Product Optimization: Manages and optimizes the strategy for ancillary sales and products, aligning offerings with member needs and market trends.
  • Data Analytics and Business Intelligence: Utilizes advanced data analytics and BI tools to inform strategic decisions, leveraging insights to drive operational improvements and strategic initiatives.
  • Vendor and Partner Relationship Management: Manages relationships with key vendors and partners, ensuring alignment with the Credit Union’s strategic objectives and maximizing the value of these partnerships.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Team Development: Leads educational initiatives within the team, promoting best practices and enhancing the collective expertise of the lending operations department.
Qualifications
  • Project Management: At least 3 years of experience in project management within financial services, demonstrating the ability to lead complex projects from inception to completion.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership or management experience, with a track record of guiding teams towards achieving strategic objectives and operational excellence.
  • Data Analytics: Significant experience in utilizing deep data analytics to inform operational or sales strategies, including proficiency in interpreting and managing large datasets.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in SQL and other data query/storage methodologies, coupled with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Dashboard and Reporting: Expertise in designing dashboards and utilizing Tableau for enterprise reporting, with the capability to draw actionable insights from data.
  • Financial Acumen: A solid understanding of sales compensation, profitability analysis, and portfolio management, with experience in applying these concepts to improve business outcomes.
  • Operational Strategy: Extensive experience with Sales Scorecards and the principles of effective goal setting, demonstrating the ability to drive performance and accountability.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Documentation and Workflow Management: Strong technical documentation skills, with experience in developing workflows, technical requirements, and project progression plans.

Training/Education/Experience
