American Academy has an opening at our Motsenbocker campus for an Instructional Assistant II. The Instructional Assistant II will be responsible for providing assistance to educational staff; assists in the instructional readiness, medical, and health needs of one student across school setting; provides some clerical support; may provide assistance with a variety of daily functions such as tube feeding, toileting, etc. Collaborates and consults with Student Support Services team and teacher(s). Develops and promotes good community relations among various community members and school clientele.

Responsibilities:

• Support participation in daily classroom activities and accommodations under the direction of 504 coordinator and teacher(s)

• Document medical and health related services (ie. feeding schedule) 

• Assist student with variety of daily functions including tube feeding, toileting

• Provide assistance to student in non-classroom settings (cafeteria, recess)

• Assist in documentation of progress, accommodations, daily functioning and behaviors

• Communicates with school personnel as needed (teachers, student support services)

• Respect confidentiality regarding student needs and abilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Experience in an educational environment preferred; verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions; computer skills; word processing. The location of this position is based on student need and is subject to change as needed.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Occasional lifting of forty (40) to seventy (70) pounds

• Frequent bending, standing, sitting, and walking

• Occasional reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, and standing

• Ability to run short distance

Education:

High School or Equivalent (Required)
