Description
Operates and maintains the City's water pumping facilities; to regulate the flow of water to various zones in the water system; to ensure that safe adequate water supplies are available throughout the City; and to operate various pump equipment and production facilities in support of the City's water system.
Duties

  • Inspect all pumps, gauges, and water equipment for leaks or malfunctions; diagnose needed repairs; perform maintenance and repairs as needed. Perform regular testing of equipment and machinery to maintain quality assurance and high performance.
  • Perform chemical test of water supplies; determine chemical needs; calculate chemical dosages and add appropriate chemicals to water as needed.
  • Maintain a variety of reports, logs, meters and charts on a daily basis to ensure proper operation of the plant; perform daily plant checks to discover and troubleshoot mechanical problems.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance to include mowing, weed eating, edging, and watering; assist plant mechanic when needed.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned or requested.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED,
  • One year experience involving the installation, maintenance and repair of water equipment and related systems, preferred
Certificates and Licenses:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 12 months ODEQ Class "D" Water Operator License or higher
Knowledge and Skills :
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with supervisors, peers, salesmen and suppliers, both verbally and in written form; must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Requires knowledge of operational characteristics of water pump equipment and tools used in the maintenance and repair of pumps and the ability to repair water control and pumping equipment.
  • Must have basic math skills
