This position is within our Operations Performance and Analytics (OPA) department and is focused on two key corporate strategic objectives for our business: lead efforts to double down on operational excellence and passionately drive efficiencies.
What you'll do

  • Key technical leader for OPA developing decision support models and applications supporting various departments (Hubs, Integrated Operations Control (IOC), Network Planning and TechOps) within the company
  • Leads efforts to build and maintain advanced decision support models using mathematical optimization, simulation and/or statistical techniques
  • Leads on strategic initiatives to derive operational efficiencies in the airport, airspace, and ATC environments
  • Leads the flight schedule development, design and evaluation process by managing quantitative tools that address operational efficiency and robustness
  • Acts as the thought leader to work in close partnership with leaders in other business units developing automated solutions to drive step function performance improvements while balancing ongoing process stability
  • Leads the research on current practices and industry trends, generate options for improvement, drive new ideas and help the business unit with implementation. Keep abreast of latest advances in analytic techniques and IT solutions that solve complex airline business problems
  • Leads project management of operational strategy initiatives, utilizing influence to drive projects to completion and spur incremental improvement
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • An advanced degree (Masters' or PhD) in a quantitative discipline (Operations Research, Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Applied Statistics, or a related field)
  • 5-10 years of experience of demonstrated success in developing and deploying advanced mathematical models to solve complex business problems
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • In-depth knowledge and strong background in one or more of the following specialized areas:
  • Advanced optimization modelling methods (LPs, MIPs, etc.) and experience building large-scale models using FICO Xpress, ILOG CPLEX, or similar
  • Building simulation models using AirTOP, SIMMOD, Arena, SIMIO or similar
  • Statistical and machine-learning techniques and experience in applying predictive analytics to practical business problems
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
  • Strong background in programming and modeling languages (Java and SAS, R or Python)
  • Experience with extraction, cleansing and analysis of large datasets to identify key trends and insights
  • Experience using data visualization software (Tableau or similar) to explore and analyze data
  • Excellent interpersonal, relational, and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to navigate and influence across departments and levels of the organization
