American Cast Iron Pipe Company is Hiring a Sales Engineer-AFC Near Houston, TX

Responsible for promotion and sale of Valve Division products to all water and sewer markets in assigned territory. Responsible for planning, marketing and sales within designated territory for product(s) and division(s) represented. Develops positive, long-term relationship with owners, engineers, and contractors that lead to beneficial results and repeated exclusive buying practices toward AMERICAN. Coordinates with and keeps abreast of marketing and sales activities within assigned territory. Price authority for standard products for sale to distributors and direct sale to utilities within guidelines established by direct supervisor. Duties include, but are not limited to, promotional calls and specification development with water and sewer authorities, consulting engineering firms, managing or supporting distributors in territory, intensive coverage of assigned territory, and resolving product complaints. Spends about 75% of time in field (as opposed to office time).
Ideal Candidate:
  • Territory Management: Displays willingness and ability to relocate to a designated Sales Division territory post-training, combined with the ability to effectively manage pre and post-bid activities within the designated territory.
  • Relationship Building: Demonstrates ability to establish and build long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including owners, engineers, contractors, and distributors.
  • Responsibility and Impact: Exhibits c apability to handle significant responsibilities and influence project plans/specifications.
  • Goal-Oriented Approach: Demonstrates ability to establish and actively pursue long-term sales and marketing goals.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Successfully complete six-month sales training program at AMERICAN headquarters in Birmingham, AL
  2. Relocate within a Sales Division territory to accommodate business needs
  3. Pre and Post bid management within your territory
  4. Establish and develop long term relationships with owners, engineers, contractors, and distributors
  5. Manage distributor sales force including price, conflict resolutions, relationship building, product training and sales force training to ensure that the distributor's actions are in AMERICAN's best interest
  6. Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university. Proof of degree required.
  • Willing and able to travel a minimum of 75% of the time
  • Willing to transfer within the U.S. and/or within the Sales Division
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications for projects
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess knowledge and experience utilizing Microsoft Office software
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
