American Fire Systems, Inc is Hiring a Fire Alarm Service Technician Near Houston, TX

Fire Alarm Service Technician - FAL

About the Role

This role reports to the Fire Alarm Service Manager and is located in Houston, TX. AFS is looking for Fire Alarm Service Technician for immediate opportunities in Houston, TX. The preferred candidate will have Fire and Security Alarm Service experience for commercial, industrial, and multi-family buildings.

What you’ll do (day to day)

  • Service, troubleshoot, repair fire protection and security systems in accordance with NFPA codes. Have working knowledge of alarm panels, devices and components.
  • You will need to communicate with internal and external customers as well as offsite monitoring companies.
  • Proper use and operation of tools required to complete Fire alarm service calls ex. Meter, hand tools, drills, etc.
  • Perform service calls in a timely manner and efficiently.
  • Record and report deficiencies of fire protection systems to customers.
  • Understand and follow AFS’s Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures. Fire Sprinkler Inspectors must know where all related safety documentation is at all times.
  • Training in all areas of Fire Alarm.

Required Education and Experience

  • 3 years’ experience performing Service calls.
  • Strong working knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes is preferred.
  • FAL - REQUIRED
  • Working knowledge of alarm panels, devices, and critical components.
  • Willing to perform Service Calls during normal hours and After hours for On Call rotation.
  • Able to complete documentation as necessary, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willing to train and learn Access Control and Cameras.
  • Able to read and write English clearly.
  • Capability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) and the general public.
  • Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record
  • US work authorization
  • Must be able to pass a drug test per company policy.
