Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Club Accountant/ Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting, payroll, and human resource functions within the course. Club Accountant/Controllers have a deep understanding of operational concepts and possess a strong attention to detail to deliver results. Under the direction of the General Manager, Club Accountant/Controller serves as an adviser and thought leader on the financial and operational objectives of the course.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all accounting and reception staff regarding accounting and financial procedural requirements to ensure accuracy and timeliness of location’s financial reporting
• Maintain facility payroll and timekeeping databases by processing personnel changes and bi-weekly payroll
• Maintain the membership database for member billing
• Assist General Manager in ordering office supplies, completing all month end financial entries including reporting and schedules on time
• Facilitate accounts receivable collections through phone calls and letters
• Maintain location information systems and resolves hardware/software issues with assistance from corporate Information Technology function
• Help General Manger prepare annual budgets

• Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and discipline staff hired to perform accounting functions
• Ensure adherence and accountability of all internal controls and company accounting policies and procedures
• Implement and support all American Golf initiatives and programs as requested by management
• Other duties may be assigned by management

Qualifications

Qualifications

• 2 years accounting/finance experience, including monthly reporting and general ledger management
• Well versed in computer-based accounting systems, Internet applications and Windows operating environment with ability to operate computer, calculator, fax, copier, and telephone
• Familiar with management of a timekeeping system, preferably Kronos
• Ability to produce financial statements under tight month-end deadlines
• Must have strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers and management
• Must be fluent in English
• A valid driver’s license is required

Education

• 4-year college degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, JD Edwards experience a plus

Working Conditions

• Days and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs.
• Evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, to walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, taste, push or pull. The employee may be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
