Job Title:

Nursing Instructor

Job Overview:

The Nursing Instructor is responsible for educating nursing students by delivering high-quality instruction in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. This role involves developing curriculum, teaching theory and practical courses, assessing student performance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of nursing education programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development and Instruction:
  • Develop, update, and implement nursing curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Deliver lectures, conduct seminars, and lead laboratory and clinical instruction.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Incorporate current research and evidence-based practice into teaching.
  • Student Assessment and Support:
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, practical tests, and clinical evaluations.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to help students improve and succeed.
  • Advise students on academic and career matters.
  • Identify students who may need additional help and provide appropriate resources and referrals.
  • Clinical Instruction:
  • Supervise students during clinical practice, ensuring they gain hands-on experience.
  • Assess and ensure the safe and effective application of nursing skills by students in clinical settings.
  • Collaborate with healthcare facilities to arrange clinical placements and ensure quality learning experiences.
  • Professional Development:
  • Stay current with developments in nursing practice and education through continuous professional development.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  • Engage in scholarly activities such as research, publication, and presentations.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records.
  • Participate in the accreditation process and program reviews.
  • Assist with student recruitment, admissions, and retention efforts.
  • Serve on departmental and institutional committees.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in a specialized area of nursing (e.g., pediatrics, critical care) is an asset.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

Work Environment:

  • The role typically involves working in a combination of classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend hours to accommodate clinical schedules or program needs.

Physical Requirements:

Salary and Benefits:
