American Lung Association is Hiring a Specialist, Health Promotions Near St Louis, MO

The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a Specialist, Health Promotions. Working as a member of the Health Promotion & Education department, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.
Oversee all aspects of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Smoke-free Rental Housing program. This position is 100% grant funded.
Location: The position is located at the American Lung Association’s St. Louis, Missouri office and will be a hybrid of in-person and virtual work.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the HP Manager and Division Director to develop, implement and evaluate a public health education program that will focus on lung health awareness and tobacco prevention and control.
  • Build, maintain and cultivate relationships with funders, facilitators, and community partners to encourage program delivery, sustainability, and growth across Missouri, including American Lung Association programs such as Freedom From Smoking, N-O-T, LUNG FORCE, etc. within Missouri.
  • Build, maintain and cultivate relationships with property owners, property management companies and renters within Missouri.
  • Oversee all services being provided, assume responsibility and liability for services performed per the contract, and serve as the primary point of contact with the state agency.
  • Manage the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the contract requirements.
  • Coordinate all aspects of grant projects activities, including trainings, presentations, education health fairs, etc. and serve as lead for these activities.
  • Seek opportunities to connect and enhance collaborations throughout the Lung Association.
  • Research and implement best practices for grant programs within priority populations.
  • Collaborate with HP Manager and Division Director in growing American Lung Association programs within assigned territory.
  • Provide support for Missouri program and development events.
  • Participate on national American Lung Association program workgroups and committees as requested.
  • Provide support for annual reports, awards, grants and other activities assigned.
  • Participate in and support community related programs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in public health or related field preferred.
  • Strong project management skills to research, develop, and execute specific program deliverables.
  • Working knowledge and a minimum of two (2) years of experience with community engagement, collaboration, and comprehensive smoke-free and tobacco-free policies.
  • Working knowledge and a minimum of two (2) years of experience with the health, legal, and financial implications of smoke-free housing.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to clearly articulate the mission and vision of the ALA.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license and your own reliable transportation with the ability to frequently travel (50%) throughout the state, be flexible to meet the needs and availability of property owners, property management companies, residents, and community members, which may include evenings and weekends and some overnights.
  • Required to travel statewide for providing technical assistance, meetings and conferences as required by assigned grant.
  • Ability to lift approximately 25 lbs.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Consistent with its mission, the American Lung Association maintains a smoke-free workplace; all employees must abstain from tobacco use in any form, including vaping.
Compensation: Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The target hiring range for this position is between $46,000 and $50,000 per annum.
