Chairs for Outpatient Cancer Clinic: 14 infusion chairs- 1- stretcher, 5 exam room

General Information:

Minimum Years of Experience required?

RN: Ideally 2-3 years inpatient/Acute Med-Surg with Oncology (Chemo/Bio/Immunotherapy) and general infusion experience. Must have recent Chemotherapy administration experience.

Will you accept a first-time traveler? Depends on past clinical and oncology experience.

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

Adult Medical Oncology all sites, benign hematology

General non oncology infusion patients needing IV medications

Medical Oncology/Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Infusion

Benign hematology: Irons, therapeutic phlebotomy

Supportive care; Blood products, IVFs, Zometa

Non-Oncology infusions- biosimilars, IVIG

No acute leukemia

Patient Ratios:

RN: no more than 1:4 at any given time

Required Certifications:

RN:

BLS - required

ONS Chemo Certification (current ONS chemo immunotherapy administration competency card) - required

ACLS - preferred

Skills required:

RN: Strong IV Skills including implanted ports, IV Chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration, Blood products, strong clinical assessment / judgment skills, good organization, and prioritization, electronic EMR savvy

Support within the Department:

Lead RN in infusion Center- carries modified assignment.

Medical Assistant in the clinic

2 Medical Oncologist

Front office staff, Medical Assistants

2 nurse navigators

Social worker, financial advocate, & Registered Dietician

Inpatient

1 Mid-Level Provider

Technology/Equipment:

EMR: Primary outpatient EMR Flat Iron Onco EMR and Cerner

Floating:

None

Orientation Period:

1-2 weeks depending on skill and experience.

Scheduling:

Monday-Friday; 0745 - 1645

No Weekends/No Holidays

No call required

Schedule cycle: 6 weeks

RTO: Manager approval

Other notes:

Scrub Color: No set color- no characters or load patterns, closed to shoes.

BLS
