American Psychological Association is Hiring an Associate Editor Near Washington, DC

Description

Note: APA operates on a 37.5-hour work week with one hour lunch breaks each day. APA sets salaries based on several considerations, including years of relevant experience, level of education, and previous staff and/or governance experience at APA.

DESCRIPTION:

The Associate Editor primarily provides support to the Editorial Team, particularly for newsletters. Duties include writing, editing, and updating content; tracking content performance and analyzing data; developing and monitoring tracking processes; research for future content; and other duties as assigned.

Secondarily, the Associate Editor also provides administrative support to the Editorial Team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor's degree in communications or related field, plus at least 2-5 years working on a communications team. Must be proficient in or able to become proficient in APA Style. Preferable to have experience with newsletter and/or magazine content.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Editing and writing responsibilities, such as writing newsletter copy, editing article content, and copyediting/proofreading.
  • Assist with processes to evaluate newsletters and other content.
  • Track content reach with regular data reports.
  • Help to research articles through literature searches and outreach to psychologists.
  • Provide administrative support, such as scheduling meetings, processing invoices, and general admin.
  • Other duties as assigned.
