American Swiss Foundation is Hiring a Programs and Communications Manager Near Washington, DC

The American Swiss Foundation is the leading private organization dedicated to strengthening the historic friendship between the United States and Switzerland. We are looking for a highly motivated person to fill the position of Programs and Communications Manager.

Working closely with the Executive Director, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day program coordination and communications for the Foundation. This position is well-suited to someone with large event coordination and social media experience who is interested in learning more about non-profit administration, event management, fundraising, and international affairs. This person will oversee the Program Assistant.

Responsibilities

Program Support and Coordination: The Programs and Communications Manager will support the Executive Director by managing all ASF events in the U.S. and Switzerland.

Program Responsibilities Include:

  • Draft and send invitations to programs using Constant Contact and Classy in partnership with Program Assistant
  • Maintain accurate guest lists of all registered attendees
  • Drafting and sending personal invitations to our network and VIPs
  • Draft and edit printed programs for all our events using Canva software
  • Draft table designs for seated dinner events in partnership with Executive Director
  • Partner with external printers to establish processes for each programs’ printed materials (programs, table place cards, name badges)
  • Organize and lead virtual program series in partnership with the Executive Director

On-site Event Support Includes

  1. Setting up and working registration, which includes: Distributing assembled name badges; Distributing dinner tickets (if relevant); Noting attendance
  2. Coordinating gifts for speakers, preparing seated dinner assignments, coordinating w/ onsite staff (IT, room design, kitchen) at the direction of the ED

ASF Committee Support

  • Attend all committee meetings for the Stratton Prize, Alumni, and Programs Committees
  • Partner with committee co-chairs including debrief and preparation for meetings
  • Responsible for drafting and circulating all meeting minutes
  • Record and carry out all actions / do outs from meetings
  • Perform other tasks as requested by committee co-chairs

Communications Responsibilities

  • Coordinate a tailored communications plan (in partnership with the ED and Director of Operations and Development )
  • Draft all event/program communications for review by Executive Director
  • Draft and publish ASF press releases
  • Draft and publish ASF talking points for programs
  • Oversee special communications projects (i.e., anniversary booklets, leadership spotlights)
  • Maintain and update the ASF website with special attention to updates after each event and board meeting

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or higher

- Excellent writing and communication skills; native level English required

- Two to three years of experience leading people

- Five to seven of experience coordinating large events

- Two to three years of experience with social media and external communications

- Some level of experience editing videos

- Some level of graphic design desirable

- Experience with Blackbaud RE NXT, Constant Contact, Classy, Canva, Salesforce, and Perfect Table desirable

- Interest in international affairs and current events desirable

- Must be comfortable working independently

- Authorization to work in the U.S. is required
