The Regional Safety Specialist assists the HSE Director within an assigned region. The position will partner with operational, safety and HR leaders. The position provides support and guidance for the Region to ensure that the Company’s objectives are achieved in the areas of health and safety. This includes providing assistance and instruction to all levels of management, safety personnel and employees in their efforts to reduce the frequency and severity of personal injuries, motor vehicle accidents, property damage losses and environmental releases. The position audits the safety efforts of all areas in the Region for standardization and implements the sharing of best practices. The position plans, develops, implements, and monitors programs to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures and all local, state, and federal regulations. A successful candidate must be friendly, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

What You'll Do:

  • Assists in the implementation and oversight of the Company Safety Program including the development of site and project safety policies and procedures.
  • Supports delivery of training, new hire onboarding, and safety meetings.
  • Performs various safety inspections and monitoring.
  • This position assists in monitoring all industry work for compliance with safety regulations.
  • Conduct impromptu safety inspections of jobsites, equipment, and personnel.
  • Continuously explore safety best practices and industry trends.
  • Serves as a support liaison between employees and management to improve local retention efforts.

What We Need from You:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant working experience in Safety disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and knowledge of driver training programs is a plus.
  • OSHA/MSHA Trainer Certifications is a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a safety field.
  • Must have the ability to carry out duties in varying work environments including wide-ranging weather conditions and terrain.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and engage with employees.
  • Ability to work successfully with minimal oversite. 
  • Positive attitude, the ability to motivate team members on site, and the skills to communicate and report effectively.
  • Ability to travel, up to 30%.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Physical ability to stand; walk; sit; use hands; talk or hear; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; ability to use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus.
