JOB SUMMARY Assists the Activity Director in designing, creating, initiating, and coordinating a wide variety of multi-level recreational and educational activities for the residents of the facility. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts various activities at the direction of the Activities Director
Assists in planning, coordinating, and evaluating resident activities.
Encourages resident participation in programs.
Escorts residents to and from activities as assigned.
Assists with the registration of residents for trips and programs.
Maintains necessary activity supplies, which may include outside purchasing.
Assists in the surveying and interviewing of residents to determine interests, talents, and resident satisfaction.
Maintains general observation of residents and shares appropriate information with staff.
Ability to maintain resident confidentiality.
Follows departmental budget guidelines.
Knowledge and understanding of dementia and Alzheimer disease.
Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to respond to each resident with empathy and respect.
Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
Strives to maintain a safe working environment through prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment and the achievement of safe working practices.
Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS
An associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Ability to respond effectively in an emergency or crisis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires the ability to bend, squat, stoop, climb, kneel, and stand on your feet for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to lift and carry up to fifty pounds. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Job offer is contingent on the following:
