AmeriCorps is Hiring a Bridge to Prosperity Refugee Education Specialist Near Omaha, NE
Conducting intake assessments with youth and their parents to gather necessary information. Providing academic support to youth, assisting them in their academic endeavors. Assisting parents in acquiring student academic records and informing them about their child's progress. Leading engaging STEM activities for youth groups, promoting their interest and involvement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Active participation in national service events and projects, including MLK Day, and occasional weekend service projects. Members serve at least 1,200 hours or an approximate average of 25 hours per week. The term of service is twelve months: September 1, 2024 (at the very earliest) through August 31st, 2025 Each member is responsible for a caseload of approximately 10-15 youth, whom they engage with through small group sessions and one-on-one meetings. These interactions occur twice weekly after school, ensuring consistent support and guidance. The one-on-one meetings arise in the comfort of the youth's homes or convenient libraries or schools, accommodating their needs and preferences. Until their service term is complete or until the youth no longer needs the support (whichever comes first). Members must participate in pre-service and ongoing training sessions throughout their year of service (i.e., one-week pre-service training and other AmeriCorps training).
