• THIS IS NOT THE FULL APPLICATION**** ****SEE WEBSITE WWW.CONFLUENCECENTER.ORG FOR COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS**** This position is in partnership between the Confluence Environmental Center, AmeriCorps Program, the Bureau of Environmental Services, Clean Rivers Education and Green Street Steward programs. The Clean Rivers Education Program offers free K-12 classroom and field science programs focused on Portland watersheds, water quality, stormwater and wastewater. The Member will support Clean Rivers Education classroom and field trip programs. The work includes time outdoors in all weather, often on uneven terrain. Field programs take place in Portland parks and natural areas (40%). The Green Street Steward program (GSS) works in close collaboration with community partners and residents for clean rivers, healthy watersheds and livable, sustainable communities through promoting and stewarding Green Streets (i.e., bioswales). The Education and GSS Outreach Coordinator will build on the successes of previous AmeriCorps Members by inviting community members to participate in the care of green streets through community education and watershed stewardship activities. Green Streets function optimally for watershed health when knowledgeable residents keep a watchful eye out and assist in green street care. The Member will recruit and train volunteers, manage data, develop and organize materials to foster green street stewardship (40%). The Member will participate in Confluence led leadership development activities which include: Leadership Development Training Series, completing a Change Agent Project (CAP), team meetings, National Service events and other self-directed development opportunities (20%).

Member Duties : ***SEE WEBSITE WWW.CONFLUENCECENTER.ORG FOR COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS*** Support Clean Rivers Educators in classroom lessons and outdoor field trips. Independently lead small groups of students in field science activities such as water quality testing, plant identification, nature hikes and macroinvertebrate sampling during field trips. Recruit community volunteers to become Green Street Stewards and support their stewardship activities. Develop, plan, and execute green street stewardship projects in close partnership with community organizations and city bureaus and programs with a focus on opportunities in low-income, racially diverse communities. Establish innovative methods and projects to foster green street stewardship. Strengthen existing and develop new relationships with communities representing Portland’s underserved populations. Develop, coordinate, and lead stormwater outreach and education activities.
