Family Promise of the Palouse (FPP) has a vision in which every family has a home, a livelihood and the chance to build a better future. Our mission towards this vision is to empower families with children experiencing homelessness to achieve sustainable independence for a more promising future. FPP provides homeless children, and their parents temporary shelter. Families are are offered services that help guide them to long-term housing. Services include intense case management, financial literacy, parenting education and life skills education. Aftercare is offered for a continuum of care and greater success when a family leaves our program. More information can be found at our website www.familypromisepalosue.org. We are looking for a VISTA member to spearhead efforts to increase our community exposure, fundraising opportunities and increase our funding grant sources. Service will include researching funding opportunities such as federal, state and local grants, private foundation grants and unique funding sources. Additionally, the service will include creating a fundraising event calendar and developing the design, implementation, and execution of a new fundraising event. The ideal candidate will have a passion for engaging the community and advocating for others. The VISTA member will build their professional network, working alongside community and industry leaders by participating in Board meetings, fundraising and community events. Professional development opportunities include various trainings on topics related to poverty, homelessness and community engagement are available. These certificate courses are at no cost to all FPP employees and volunteers. Family Promise promotes professional development, team learning, and a strong work/life balance. This year long service opportunity begins August 12, 2024 through August 11, 2025. Member Duties : The Resource Development Specialist VISTA project will increase and strengthen resources available to homeless families with children in Latah County. Family Promise of the Palouse (FPP) programs and operations are funded entirely through contributions, sponsorships, and grant funds. We currently run one fundraising event each year and apply for 5 grants per year. The VISTA will develop a grant cycle calendar, update statistical data in the organization narrative, and research grant opportunities to increase grant applications to a minimum of 12 per year. They will also create a plan and calendar of fundraising opportunities and events; and will plan and execute an additional fundraising event. By increasing the resources available to FPP, we will be able to increase the number of families and individuals served in our programs. These activities also include promoting events and activities on FPP's social media resources such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and website.
