Do you have a special place in your heart for cats and want to find the right environment for you to hone your feline skills? Have you considered the tranquility that comes with a feline-only clinic? Cat Care Clinic has a dedicated and hard-working team, focused on all things feline. (Well, some of us have dogs and other exotics too, but we see the family pets after hours.) Cat Care Clinic has a rare opening for a full-time experienced vet assistant or LVT. At Cat Care Clinic, we provide specialized care, developing our expertise in feline medicine, behavior, and handling techniques. Our clinic is designed to provide reduced stress for cats and humans alike. We focus on client education of feline health and behavior, which leads to better compliance with treatment and preventative care, and overall better health outcomes for the cats we serve. Our clients are amazing, being committed to their cat's well-being. Cat Care Clinic is looking for an experienced vet assistant (2 years as a vet assistant) or an LVT. You will be responsible for:
Animal Care and Nursing:
Monitoring and recording vital signs of animals.
Administering medications and treatments under the direction of a veterinarian.
Assisting with medical procedures, such as surgeries and dental cleanings.
Providing post-operative care and monitoring anesthesia.
Diagnostic Procedures:
Performing diagnostic tests, such as blood draws, urinalysis, and imaging (X-rays, ultrasound).
Collecting and preparing laboratory samples for analysis.
Client Communication:
Educating pet owners on topics such as medication administration, diet, and basic animal care.
Answering client questions and providing information on pet health and wellness.
Record Keeping:
Maintaining accurate medical records and documenting patient histories.
Recording observations and treatments performed.
Hospital Maintenance:
Sterilizing equipment and maintaining cleanliness in treatment areas.
Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies.
Emergency and Critical Care:
Assisting in emergencies and providing initial triage care.
Monitoring and stabilizing patients in critical condition.
Behavior and Restraint:
Handling and restraining animals during examinations and procedures.
Observing animal behavior and reporting any concerns to the veterinarian.
Continuing Education:
Participate in continuing education courses to maintain licensure and stay current with advances in veterinary medicine.
