The PositionAMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer-Junior to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position BackgroundThe Simulation Applications and Architecture (SAA) Branch develops multiple modeling and simulation (M&S) tools in support of warfighter training; test and evaluation (T&E); data analysis; live, virtual, and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. The tools include the Global Reusable Interface Domain (GRID), the Weapons Server Common Environment (WSCE), the Simulation Control Executive (SCE), and the Architecture Management Integration Environment (AMIE). The SAA Branch designs, develops, documents, and deploys these products and tools. The Battlespace Division delivers these products as part of an integrated suite of tools called the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Technical Baseline (JTB); the battlespace for JSE.
A Typical Day As a Software Developer-Junior May Include

• Develops software for an advanced synthetic training environment
• Integrates software into flight simulators to support pilot training in a threat test environment
• Supports software development, software integration, customer training and demonstrations
• Demonstrates a knowledge of standard programming algorithms, design patterns and object-oriented software designs
• Works within existing DevOps environment, including automated builds, to test and deploy software on multiple OS platforms
• Evaluates and reviews C and C language codes
• Programs using C and C
• Develops software that requires parallel processing, threading and inter-process communication
• Develops software to simulate complex environments/platforms in real-time
• Collaborates with team members to design future enhancements

Must-haves

• BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
• 1 year of relevant work experience
• Experience with scripting and databases
• Experience programming in C or C
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program Clearance
• The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills

• Experience with Python3, CMake, CUDA, threaded programming and/or modeling and simulation
• Experience with Software CM tools to include git
• Experience with network-connected software development
• Experience working in both Linux and Windows environments

Physical Environment And Working ConditionsThe physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site. In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
